Summary
Matthew Logelin met Liz Goodman as senior in high school in 1996, and they fell in love. Shortly after graduating they maintained a long distance relationship while Matthew was away at St. Johns University in New York, and Liz was away at Scripps College in Claremont, California. After their college career Matthew became project manager at "Yahoo!", and they settled down in Los Angeles, California. While living together, they spent most of their time trying to travel to as many places as they could possibly go. It didn't take long before they decided to get married, Matthew proposed while visiting in Nepal. They got married on August 13, 2005.
Just two years after getting married the Logelin's were expecting their first child. Liz's pregnancy was't easy but she made it almost all the way. Since her and the baby were not gaining the appropriate amount of weight she was placed on bed rest for two weeks. After bed rest did not work, Liz was placed in the hospital for three weeks so they could keep a close eye on her and the baby. After only 5 weeks of bed rest and being in the hospital their daughter, Madeline Elizabeth Logelin was born on March 24, 2008, she was perfectly healthy, but she was 7 weeks premature.
After the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Madeline, came something Matt never would have expected. Matthew helped his wife start to get out of bed again after 5 weeks of bed rest. Matthew and the nurses proceeded to walk her to the wheelchair to go see her baby in the NICU for the first time.
* SPOILER ALERT * Liz suddenly began to feel lightheaded and collapsed. Matthew carried Liz back to her bed and the nurses quickly rushed to take care of her. They tried everything to revive her, but it was too late. Liz Logelin died of a pulmonary embolism on March 25, 2008. Liz passed with in 27 short hours of giving birth to her first child.
